Cub Scout Pack 136
Long Valley NJ
Register through BeAScout.org Step 1

This part includes all of the registration paperwork and non-pack fees which are paid directly to the national scouting organization. These fees cover new scout registration, insurance, and regional programming fees.   REGISTER HERE

Pay your pack dues and fill out the yearly health/release form Step 2

The national scouting organization requires us to collect the dues for pack operating costs separately from the national fees. Our scouts do fundraising each year to help defer the cost of materials, awards, and volunteer leader registration fees. Participating in our fundraising helps reduce or eliminate this cost.

Get assigned to a den Step 3

Dens are assigned based on grade level. We try to keep dens to 8 or less scouts with no less than 3 scouts in a den. If you are joining when our current dens are getting close to full, we may ask you move to a new den at the same level once arrangements can be made for that.

Start scouting! Step 4

Scouting is a load of fun and we do many activities each month. Don't feel obligated to come to everything, but know that those with the most success with the program later down the road are from the most active families.

There is no need to wait to start going to den meetings and pack activities. Dens usually meets 2-3 times per month as a small group. Pack meetings are held monthly to recognize accomplishments, work on scout skills, and go over upcoming event preparation with parents.

We also go hiking once per month as a pack at local trails that can fit a group of our size.
Camping trips and community service projects are held a couple of times per year.

Get a uniform and handbook Step 5

Handbooks (either printed or pdf) are great to have for each rank as they contain descriptions for the adventures and activities.
If you have the means to purchase a uniform, they are typically worn at den and pack meetings. There are also many options for 2nd hand uniforms floating around our pack and online.
